Regione Valle d'Aosta acquired, by its own financial company Finaosta, the majority quote (65%, 3'000'000 euro) of Cervino SpA, founded in 1934 and actually managing Breuil Cervinia mountain lifts. This mean that, added to previous 12% owned, Finaosta has 77% shares.
The Regione Valle d'Aosta President, Augusto Rollandin, explained that the aim is "to maintain tourist activity in Valtournenche area, responding to a critical no-founds condition that could have a negative result over the next winter season", underlining tha this acquiring transaction "is not againt privates and local public bodies who wants to acquire shares".
Huge investments over the next short period to renew lifts: 23 millions € are now available relaunching Matterhorn Ski Paradise italian area that, as said by regional Tourism and Transport Councillor Aurelio Marguerettaz, "has big pontentialities that need investments".
This acquisition has avoid lifts missing opening for the next winter, leaving "the door open" to investments by other subjects, included potential investors on Zermatt side.
